Why Uddhav Thackeray slammed government over drought, says it is busy checking auspicious dates

Maharashtra politics has seen continuous upheaval in recent days. Amid this, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) chief Uddhav Thackeray has sharply attacked the state's Mahayuti government and the central government. He alleged that after buying up MLAs and MPs, those now in power are busy going abroad to buy awards for themselves.

Thackeray was on a tour of Marathwada during which he spoke on several issues. Taunting his opponents, he said that the shamelessness they have shown and the awards they have bought, others cannot do, and that these people will remind them of this. Claiming credit for Marathwada's development, Thackeray also targeted leaders who have switched parties. He questioned whether leaders who joined hands with the ruling party for personal benefit have the courage to place Marathwada's problems firmly before the prime minister.

He said the prime minister may forgive those who raise their voice for their rights and justice, but will not waive farmers' loans. According to him, raising one's voice can certainly get one forgiveness.

Thackeray also targeted the government over drought-like conditions in Marathwada. He said government advertisements and hoardings make it seem as if there is no problem at all in Marathwada and that prosperity is raining down there, while the ground reality is completely the opposite. He said the government is spending money on advertisements like water, when that money should have been spent on Marathwada's development, helping farmers and relief work.

Thackeray also questioned the government's approach to the drought. He said drought has already been declared in Karnataka, but the Maharashtra government here is busy checking auspicious dates and calendars. He asked how many farmers would die by suicide by the time the auspicious date of October 5 arrives. He said that despite farmers' dire condition, the government is not taking immediate action and is waiting for the date. He taunted that a government that cannot even give a farmer a good bullock, how will it care for the people.
