Young farmer escapes tiger attack in Chandrapur, fights back with stick

A young farmer narrowly escaped a tiger attack in Chimur taluka of Chandrapur district. The incident took place around 4 pm today in Yeva forest near Navtala village in the Neri area. The injured farmer has been identified as Shubham Vasanta Shivarkar, a resident of Navtala. It was Shubham's presence of mind during the attack that helped him escape the danger.

According to information received, Shubham had taken his cattle to graze in Yeva forest near the village in the afternoon. The forest adjoins Navtala village, and farmers in the area often take their cattle there to graze. Around 4 pm, the cattle grazing in the forest suddenly began running around and bellowing. Hearing the cattle's sudden distress and noise, Shubham ran in that direction to see what had happened. At that moment, a large striped tiger hidden in the bushes suddenly pounced on him.

In the attack, Shubham suffered serious injuries to his hands and head from the tiger's claws and teeth. But despite the grave danger, Shubham did not lose courage. Showing presence of mind, he fought back forcefully against the tiger with the stick he was carrying, while also shouting loudly for help. Seeing Shubham's resistance and hearing his loud cries, the tiger left him and fled back into the forest, saving his life.

After the incident, villagers immediately informed the forest department. The injured Shubham was rushed to the sub-district hospital in Chimur, where he is currently undergoing treatment. He is reported to be out of danger for now.

As soon as news of the incident spread, a forest department team reached the spot. The broad-daylight attack has caused fear and panic among farmers in the Navtala and Yeva forest area. Local villagers have demanded that the forest department increase patrolling in the area immediately and control dangerous wildlife, so that no such incident occurs again.
