A speeding car driven by a woman ran into a crowd near a Nagpur factory late Tuesday, leaving four seriously injured, including three children.

A major road accident occurred late Tuesday night near the Dinshaw factory in the Gittikhadan police station area of Nagpur. A speeding car ran into several people standing by the roadside.

The accident happened around 10:30 pm, when several people were standing near the factory by the roadside. According to initial information, the car, bearing registration number MH-31/FU-0272, was being driven by a woman named Dipali Yang, and the car was speeding.

The car first hit an SUV from behind. It then swerved towards the roadside and ran over five to six people standing there.

Four people were seriously injured in the collision, including three children. The injured have been identified as Harish Rambhau Revatkar, Ashish Purushottam Nakhate, Bablu Kulthe and Vanshika Kulmethe. Some other people were also injured in the accident. It is being said that three of the injured remain in a critical condition.

Panic broke out in the area as soon as the collision occurred. People nearby and drivers passing through the area rushed to help the injured. They picked up the injured and took them to a nearby hospital, where they are currently being treated.

People present at the scene immediately caught the woman driving the car and handed her over to the police.

As news of the accident spread, tension built up at the Gittikhadan police station. A large number of people gathered there and demanded strict action against the woman driver.

Given the rising tension and the crowd situation, additional police personnel were deployed at the police station. Senior police officers, including DCP Annapurna Singh and DCP Reddy, reached the spot on learning of the incident.

Till late Tuesday night, police were in the process of registering a case, while further investigation into the accident was also under way.
