A speeding Seltos car went out of control and ran into pedestrians in Nagpur's Gorewada area on Tuesday night, injuring around seven people, including three children. The accident occurred near Dinshaw Factory. Police said the car was being driven by a woman who lost control of the vehicle.
According to police, the woman driver was passing near Gorewada Dinshaw Factory in her Seltos car on Tuesday night. The car's high speed caused it to go out of control. It first hit an SUV belonging to Balu Kulmethe, who was getting out of his vehicle with his young daughter at the time. The car then ploughed straight into pedestrians on the road, hitting three children among them.
Several people were injured in the accident, including Harish Rambhau Revatkar of Godhani and Ashish Nakhate of Nara. All the injured were rushed to hospital, where they are being treated.
A crowd gathered at the scene soon after the accident. Angry residents went directly to the police station and staged a protest, demanding strict action against the woman driver. Police officers reached the spot and pacified the crowd, bringing the situation under control.
Police detained the woman driver after the accident and had her undergo a medical examination. Police suspect she may have been driving under the influence, but this can be confirmed only after the medical report comes in. Police are also examining CCTV footage from around the accident site to determine the car's speed and the actual circumstances at the time.
Police are currently investigating the case. Further action against the woman driver will be decided once the medical report and CCTV footage are available.
