4 killed as pilgrims' car rams truck on Mumbai-Nashik highway
A car returning from Trimbakeshwar temple crashed into a parked truck near Atgaon in Shahapur, killing four and injuring six.
Four pilgrims were killed on the spot and six others were seriously injured in a horrific collision between a car and a truck near Atgaon in Shahapur limits on the Mumbai-Nashik highway. A car carrying pilgrims returning towards Mumbai after visiting Trimbakeshwar in Nashik is understood to have rammed into the rear of a goods vehicle parked on the side of the highway. The crash was so severe that four people died on the spot and six were seriously injured.
According to initial information, the Jaiswal family, residents of the Jogeshwari area of Mumbai, had visited the famous Trimbakeshwar temple in Nashik on Wednesday, September 16, and were returning to Mumbai by car. The family was heading home happily after the temple visit. When the car reached the Atgaon area, it rammed into the rear of a goods truck parked on the side of the road. The impact was so severe that the front of the car was completely crushed, and the passengers inside had no chance to get out. Four people died on the spot in the accident.
Hearing the loud noise of the crash, local residents and highway police rushed to the spot immediately. Locals made great efforts to pull the trapped passengers out of the car. Unfortunately, four had already died on the spot, while six were seriously injured. All the injured were immediately admitted to the sub-district hospital in Shahapur for treatment.
