Nagpur: DJ blaring past midnight at Hichki Bar, police raid venue
Police raided Hichki Bar and Restaurant in Nagpur after a DJ was found playing music far above the permitted noise limit.
Police raided Hichki Bar and Restaurant late at night at Park Avenue building in New Colony, within the limits of Sadar police station in Nagpur. Police said a DJ was being played there at a volume many times higher than the permitted limit.
Commissioner of Police Vishwas Nangare Patil received information around midnight on Saturday that loud DJ music was playing at Hichki Bar and Restaurant, causing trouble to people in the surrounding area. Following this, escort squad chief API Bhagwan Koli reached the spot with a police team and a sound level meter operator.
Police said the sound intensity was recorded at 63.2 decibels outside the building, while a reading taken on the 12th floor showed 100.6 decibels. The investigation found that the DJ was being played at Hichki Bar and Restaurant, located on the terrace of the 13th floor.
Police detained 22-year-old DJ operator Deep Shankarrao More, a resident of Shri Krishna Nagar Wathoda, and seized the DJ system. A case has been registered at Sadar police station against the DJ operator and the manager under the relevant sections.
The Commissioner of Police has warned operators of all pubs, bars, cafes and restaurants, as well as DJ operators, to follow the noise limits and rules set by the government.
