Yamaha R15 V4 gets quickshifter option in two new colours in India

Yamaha Motor India has given its popular sports bike R15 V4 an important update. The company has now made the quickshifter feature available in two more colours, Racing Blue and Matte Pearl White. Earlier, this feature was available only in the Intensity White colour.

The Racing Blue variant is priced at Rs 1,74,850 without the quickshifter, while with the quickshifter it costs Rs 1,79,500 (ex-showroom). This means customers will have to pay Rs 4,650 more for this feature.

The quickshifter on the R15 V4 is a unidirectional system. This means that while the bike is gaining speed, upshifts can be made without pressing the clutch lever. However, the clutch still has to be used for downshifts as usual. This makes it easier for the rider to maintain both speed and control while changing gears during sporty riding. However, this feature is not yet available in all colours.

The bike is powered by a 155cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. With Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) technology, this engine generates 18.1 bhp of power and 14.2 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox. VVA technology attempts to keep power delivery more controlled by altering valve operation at different RPMs.

On the hardware front, the R15 V4 gets a Deltabox frame, 37 mm USD front forks and a linked-type Monocross rear suspension. Braking duties are handled by a 282 mm disc at the front and a 220 mm disc at the rear, along with dual-channel ABS. The bike rides on 17-inch alloy wheels. Seat height is 815 mm, ground clearance is 170 mm and kerb weight is 141 kg. The fuel tank has a capacity of 11 litres.

In terms of features, the R15 V4 gets a bi-functional LED headlamp, LED position lamp, LED taillamp and a digital instrument console. The console displays gear position and VVA status among other information. Select variants also get smartphone connectivity and traction control. With the quickshifter option now available in the Racing Blue and Matte Pearl White colours, the electronic feature list of this sports bike has grown further.
