Man arrested for sexually assaulting two minor brothers in Nagpur
A 30 year old man was arrested in Nagpur's Rautnagar area for allegedly sexually assaulting two minor brothers, aged 6 and 11.
A shocking case of sexual assault on two minor brothers has come to light in the Rautnagar area under Wathoda police station limits in Nagpur. A 30 year old man allegedly lured the two boys, took them to a bathroom and sexually assaulted them. The victims are said to be aged 6 and 11. Both boys are from the same family, and the incident has left the family devastated.
The family was thrown into turmoil after learning of the incident. As soon as the complaint was received, Wathoda police swiftly arrested the accused and registered a case against him under the POCSO Act, the law meant to protect children from sexual offences.
According to police, the arrested accused has been identified as Ashfaq Hafiz Sheikh, 30, a resident of Rautnagar. Initial investigation has found no prior criminal record against the accused.
According to information received, on September 16 the two brothers were playing near a mosque in their neighbourhood. While the children were engrossed in play as usual, the accused allegedly called them over, lured them and took them to a nearby bathroom, where he is accused of sexually assaulting both boys.
After the incident, both boys returned home in a frightened state. When the family noticed a change in the children's behaviour and questioned them, the boys revealed what had happened. The family was shaken on hearing this. The mother of the victims then lost no time and went straight to Wathoda police station to file a complaint.
Based on the complaint, police registered a case against the accused, Ashfaq Sheikh, under the relevant sections of the POCSO Act and arrested him. Police are examining the children's statements and other evidence related to the case.
Police officials said the investigation is being taken up seriously. During the probe, the circumstances of the incident, the contact between the accused and the victims, and other related aspects are being examined. Police said further legal action will be taken based on facts that emerge during the investigation.
As per law, the identity of the victims has been kept confidential in this sensitive case involving minors.
