Wardha police launch anti-drug awareness drive, order strict action on offenders
Wardha police plan public awareness campaigns against drug abuse alongside strict action under MCOCA, MPDA and PIT NDPS on offenders.

Wardha district police have decided to run public awareness programmes aimed at building a drug-free society. Under the drive, people will be told about the harmful effects of drugs and encouraged to stay away from them. Those found involved in drug-related crimes will face action under stringent laws such as MCOCA, MPDA and PIT NDPS.
To ensure traffic rules are followed in the city, traffic branch personnel will be deployed for regular patrolling, with care taken not to inconvenience citizens or traffic movement. With festivals approaching, adequate police deployment will also be arranged in the city so that all rules are followed and necessary measures are taken.
Police said social media would be closely monitored to prevent any objectionable content or incidents. Crimes and registered cases will be probed quickly in an effort to resolve them at the earliest. Strict action has also been ordered against the illegal sale and smuggling of liquor.
Emphasis was placed on investigating crimes scientifically and accurately, presenting strong evidence in court, and raising the conviction rate of the accused. Police have also been directed to seriously track down accused and stolen property in house burglary and theft cases and settle registered cases quickly. Instructions have been issued to search for missing persons and children swiftly, following the information provided as per the SOP.
Search operations will be carried out against illegal gambling dens. All police station heads have been asked to hold regular "Samvad" meetings in their respective areas. Directions have also been given to hold regular meetings of all officers and personnel at the police station level to review the work being done.
The meeting was attended by all sub-divisional police officers of Wardha district, station heads of all police stations, and senior officers of the Local Crime Branch, Cyber Police Station, Special Branch and other related branches. After the review meeting, the Superintendent of Police and the Additional Superintendent of Police had a meal together with all the officers and personnel present.
