Wai chief officer visits market, sits with traders to hear complaints

Development works being carried out by the Wai municipal council have picked up pace. To ensure the quality of this work, chief officer Anil Sawant went out on the ground himself for a thorough inspection instead of taking reports while sitting in office, a method that has caught the attention of residents.

While inspecting work underway in the Mandai area, chief officer Sawant gave clear instructions to those concerned that there should be no compromise on the certification and quality of the steel being used in the road work. He said development works are funded by public money and must therefore be strong, of good quality and long lasting.

The Mandai sees heavy crowds not only from Wai town but from across the taluka. To ensure shoppers do not face difficulty moving around and that traffic does not get held up, seating arrangements and movement in the area are being planned so that any vehicle can exit within two minutes. The chief officer inspected this arrangement on site as well.

During the inspection, an incident won over many people. Chief officer Anil Sawant went and sat directly with Mandai traders at their counters and heard their difficulties and problems. For traders, the experience of an official sitting with them at their counters, asking after their wellbeing and listening to their problems was an emotional one.

Some traders said, "This is probably the first chief officer who has come and sat at our counters and handcarts to learn about our problems." Talking to the traders, the chief officer not only heard their difficulties but also gave guidance on how to serve customers better, how to be warmer with them, and how to keep the Mandai premises more organised and attractive.

Opposition leader Vijay Dhekane, corporators Ajit Shinde, Pravin Jadhav-Bhusari, Nikhil Jadhav-Bhusari, Nilesh More and Santosh Jamdade, among others, were present during the inspection.
