Titwala platform work's final block today, several Kasara route locals cancelled
A three-hour traffic and power block on Thursday night marks the final phase of platform extension work at Titwala, disrupting local and express trains.
Work to extend the platform at Titwala station to accommodate 15-car local trains is set to reach its final stage on Thursday midnight. A special traffic and power block will be taken on both the up and down routes from 1.45 am to 4.45 am, a duration of about three hours. This will disrupt local services on the Kasara route as well as the timetable of some mail and express trains.
The platform extension work at Titwala station has been underway since the midnight of August 28-29. Today marks the final stage of this special block, which has run for 15 days. Since local services between Titwala and Kasara will not be available during the block, some night-time local trips have been cancelled.
Among the changes to local services, the Titwala locals leaving CSMT at 10 pm, 11.16 pm and 11.42 pm have been cancelled. In addition, the 12.08 am Kasara local and the 8.56 pm Asangaon local will also not run. Services departing from Thane, Kurla and some other stations will also be affected. On the up route, the Titwala to CSMT locals at 4.32 am, 6.13 am and 10.06 pm have also been cancelled.
For the convenience of passengers, the railways have arranged some special local trains. A special local will run from CSMT to Thane at 12.08 am, while a special local will leave Asangaon for Parel at 8.02 am.
In addition, some trains including the Ballia-Dadar Express, Gyaneshwari Express, Howrah-CSMT Mail, Gorakhpur-LTT Express and Sainagar Shirdi-Dadar Express will be regulated at Vasind, Atgaon, Khardi, Kasara and Igatpuri. Six trains, including the Vidarbha Express, Devagiri Express, Punjab Mail and Duronto Express, are expected to reach their destination stations 30 to 40 minutes late.
