Thane civic body seeks retired officers for theatre management posts
Thane Municipal Corporation will hold a walk-in interview on September 17 to hire retired Class-1 officers as contract in-charges for its two auditoriums and art gallery.
The Thane Municipal Corporation has decided to bring retired officers on contract to manage its Ram Ganesh Gadkari Rangayatan and Dr Kashinath Ghanekar auditoriums, along with the art gallery, in a move meant to streamline operations at the venues.
The civic body has revised the eligibility criteria in an earlier advertisement for the post. Only officers who retired from the Class-1 cadre are now eligible to apply and sit for the interview; officers who retired from other cadres will not qualify. The post has also been renamed to "Officer-in-Charge, Theatre and Art Gallery Management."
A walk-in interview for interested and eligible retired officers will be held on September 17, 2026, at 3 pm. The venue is the Late Arvind Krishnaji Pendse Hall, Standing Committee Hall, on the third floor of the municipal administrative building at Chandanwadi Panchpakhadi, Thane. Eligible candidates can appear directly at the venue without submitting a separate application or going through any other process.
The corporation's additional commissioner said all other terms and conditions from the original advertisement issued on August 5, 2026, remain unchanged, apart from the post's name and the eligibility criterion.
The civic body expects that experienced, retired Class-1 officers will help run the theatre department's operations more smoothly and speedily. Responsibility for managing both auditoriums and the art gallery will now rest with these contract-based officers-in-charge.
