Shevgaon administration moves to survey roads before anti-encroachment drive
Shevgaon civic body files an application with the land records office to survey road boundaries as a first step toward removing encroachments
The encroachment problem in Shevgaon city has grown serious in recent times. Both residential and mixed commercial constructions have come up on the city's main roads, inner lanes and several areas, reviving the issue of road boundaries and encroachment. Residents have been complaining that the growing encroachments are reducing space on the roads and causing traffic obstruction.
Against this backdrop, Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi's state vice-president Prof. Kisan Chavan had submitted a memorandum demanding action against encroachment in the city. However, an official survey and demarcation of the boundaries of the concerned areas is necessary before encroachments can be removed, so the municipal council administration has filed an online application with the land records office.
The administration clarified that since several areas of the city have both residential houses and mixed commercial shops, the necessary legal process is being completed before removing encroachments. An online application has been filed with the land records office for an official survey of the roads concerned. Once the land records department completes the survey, the boundaries of the roads will be fixed, and only after that will it become clear exactly where encroachments have taken place. Chief officer Vijaya Ghadge said that once this entire process is complete, action to remove encroachments will begin immediately as per the rules.
The administration has moved quickly since the encroachment issue was raised in the city. A meeting has been called on the matter and the process for further action has also begun. Residents are now watching to see when the real action against encroachment in the city will begin.
The administration has clarified in a written letter that once the survey and demarcation of the city's roads is complete, action to remove encroachments will be taken immediately as per the rules. Citing this written assurance from the administration, Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi has expressed hope that strict action against encroachment will follow as soon as the survey and demarcation process is complete.
