Satara to hold special voter registration camps on Sept 19, 20, 26 and 27

Special voter registration camps will be held at all polling stations in Satara district on September 19, 20, 26 and 27. The decision was taken under the Election Commission of India's Special Intensive Revision programme, aimed at giving eligible citizens whose names could not be included in the draft voter list for various reasons another chance to register, while also allowing new voters to sign up.

On all four days, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will be present at their respective centres from 10 am to 6 pm to help citizens with registration and related work.

After the Special Intensive Revision process, the draft voter list that was released left out the names of several eligible citizens for different reasons. Those who were absent at the time, had moved to another location, or were left out for any other reason now have an opportunity to get their names entered in the voter list at their current place of ordinary residence.

In addition, new voters who turn 18 on or before October 1, 2026 will also be able to register during this period. The camps will not only take applications for adding names, but will also accept applications for correcting names, addresses or other details in the voter list, and, where necessary, for removing names from the list. Special attention will also be paid to increasing the participation of women, persons with disabilities, the transgender community and minority communities, besides all other eligible citizens, in the voter list.

The administration has appealed to citizens to carry the necessary documents when visiting the camp, and to first check whether their name is already on the voter list. Sub-Divisional Election Officer Bhagwan Kamble said as many eligible citizens as possible should take advantage of these special camps to ensure their names are registered in the voter list.
