Rinku Singh, MP Priya Saroj to marry in Lucknow on December 4
Cricketer Rinku Singh and Samajwadi Party MP Priya Saroj will marry on December 4 at Lucknow's Ramada Hotel, both families confirm.
Indian cricketer Rinku Singh and Priya Saroj, Samajwadi Party MP from Uttar Pradesh's Machhlishahr Lok Sabha seat, will marry on December 4. The wedding rituals will be held at the Ramada Hotel in Lucknow. Guests from India and abroad are expected to attend, and several prominent figures from politics, administration and cricket are reported to have been invited.
According to Priya Saroj's father and Samajwadi Party MLA Toofani Saroj, the date and venue have been finalised with the consent of both families. Preparations are nearly complete, and the wedding will follow full traditional rites.
The wedding was originally to be held at the Taj Hotel in Varanasi but was postponed after the death of Rinku Singh's father. Both families have now completed fresh preparations. Priya and Rinku got engaged in June 2025, since when the two have been in the news. Priya Saroj, who is often seen with Rinku during matches, was seen with him at various places through the year.
In an interview, Priya Saroj said her conversation with Rinku Singh began while she was promoting her sister's food blogging page. Someone told her about Rinku, after which she looked him up on Instagram. At the time, Rinku had about 1,20,000 followers while Priya had about 1,000. According to Priya, Rinku liked her post and messaged her about five days later.
Priya said that in the beginning, the two communicated through her brother and Rinku's fellow cricketer Nitish Rana. Rinku proposed marriage in 2022, but Priya was preparing to become a judge at the time and was not ready to marry.
According to Priya, her father wanted the groom to have a government job. Rinku had told her that the family would agree once he was selected for the Indian team. After his strong performances and selection to the Indian team in 2023, the situation around the relationship changed. Priya said that in 2024, her brother-in-law told her father about the relationship. With both families' consent, the wedding date has now been fixed.
