Pune civic hospitals to get expanded ICU and maternity facilities
Pune Municipal Corporation will upgrade hospitals and maternity homes under its health department with modern operation theatres, ICUs and delivery facilities.

The health department of the Pune Municipal Corporation has taken a major step to ensure better and modern treatment for the city's residents. Hospitals and maternity homes run by the civic body will be upgraded, adding facilities such as state-of-the-art operation theatres, intensive care units (ICUs) and maternity wards.
Under this upgrade, modular operation theatres will be built. Special systems to prevent infection, electronic operation tables and modern medical equipment will be installed. Hospitals will also get modern air purification and air conditioning systems to keep the air clean and germ-free, along with central medical gas pipelines, nurse call systems and electric suction machines.
Special attention has been given to the safety of mothers and newborns in the maternity homes. Modern delivery beds, equipment required for newborns, air suction systems and biomedical waste management facilities will be provided. Women's wards will also get modern furniture, separate storage systems and cleanliness facilities.
A computer-based integrated ward management system will be introduced to make the hospital's administrative and medical work faster and more transparent.
A separate ten-bed modular ICU will be built at Captain Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Bopodi, with a central monitoring system, modern medical equipment and facilities for treating respiratory conditions. In addition, the capacity of the neonatal ICU at Kamala Nehru Hospital has been increased, with ten modern ventilators and ten CPAP machines provided for critically ill newborns.
The hospitals included in this scheme are: Sanjay Gandhi Hospital, Bopodi; Bharat Ratna Rajiv Gandhi Hospital, Yerawada; Muralidhar Laygude Dispensary, Dhayari; Mahatma Phule Dispensary, Ghorpadi; Kashinath Anaji Dhankawade Maternity Home, Balajinagar; Chandramama Sonawane Hospital, Bhavani Peth; Rajmata Jijau Maternity Home, Mitramandal Chowk; Jayabai Nanasaheb Sutar Maternity Home, Kothrud; Sakharam Kundalik Kodre Maternity Home, Mundhwa; and Dwarkabai Muralidhar Khedkar Maternity Home, Bopodi.
