AG Envrio, the company that handles garbage collection for the Nagpur Municipal Corporation, has been accused of a major scam involving the salaries of security guards. Congress MLA Vikas Thakre has alleged that the company, along with a security agency and municipal corporation officials, opened bank accounts in the names of 17 security guards without their permission. Transactions worth crores of rupees took place in these accounts, and the guards were paid thousands of rupees less than their fixed salary every month, defrauding them.

Under the terms of the contract, each security guard was to be paid a salary of Rs 25,600 a month, but they actually received only Rs 15,500 in hand. This meant Rs 1,71,700 was siphoned off every month from the 17 guards, amounting to Rs 20,60,400 over a year.

A delegation of the affected security guards met MLA Vikas Thakre and exposed the entire matter. According to them, since November 2019, an agency called Armour Security India Limited had opened accounts in their names at a large branch of Suryoday Small Finance Bank without taking their consent.

MLA Thakre has demanded an immediate special audit of all financial transactions during the entire contract period. He has also demanded that an FIR be registered immediately against the security agency that opened the fake accounts, AG Envrio, Suryoday Bank and the guilty municipal corporation officials. He said the guards should be paid their pending dues with interest without delay.

In May 2026, when the security guards raised their voice against this injustice, the agency withheld their salaries in retaliation. With no salary being paid, the guards faced the prospect of having to stop working from June 2026.

MLA Thakre also questioned the role of the municipal corporation, saying that despite being the principal employer, officials never checked whether the contracting company was complying with labour laws. After the dispute came to light, AG Envrio handed the contract to another agency, Elite Securitas, which is linked to the same earlier owners. Thakre suspects the same irregularities are being continued under a different name.
