Truck kills two in separate Nagpur accidents, parent watches child die

Two separate road accidents in Nagpur city on Tuesday left everyone shaken. In both incidents, truck drivers hit two-wheeler riders from behind, and in both cases a family member was forced to watch another die in front of them.

The first accident took place on Wardha Road within the limits of Hingna police station. Anushka Anil Meshram, 17, a resident of Pandharabodi, Ramnagar, was riding on a motorcycle with her father Anil Shankarrao Meshram, 51, towards Wardha Road at around 5:30 pm. Near Dr Raju Deshmukh's farmhouse in the Jamtha area, an unidentified truck driver hit their bike from behind and fled the scene. Both father and daughter were seriously injured and were rushed to AIIMS Hospital. Doctors there examined Anushka and declared her dead, while Anil continued to be treated.

The second accident occurred in the Lava area under Wadi police station limits at around 7:30 pm. Chandrashekhar Tembhre, a resident of Mhada Colony, Davlameti, was riding his mother Sayan Tembhre on his motorcycle from Mahadevnagar towards Davlameti. Near Shetkari Hotel, a boring truck bearing registration number KA01-MK5573 hit their bike from behind. Chandrashekhar fell to one side on impact, but his mother Sayan came directly under the truck. People nearby immediately informed the police.

Wadi police reached the spot and both mother and son were sent to Mayo Hospital for treatment. There too, doctors declared Sayan dead, while Chandrashekhar's treatment continued. Nagpur police have registered cases against the accused truck drivers in both incidents and have begun investigations.
