Congress MLA alleges fake accounts in NMC garbage contractor's guards' names

Another major controversy has emerged over Nagpur Municipal Corporation's garbage collection contract. Congress MLA Vikas Thakre has alleged that AG Enviro Infra Projects Private Limited, the company handling garbage collection, along with its associated security agency and some NMC officials, financially exploited security guards.

According to the MLA, bank accounts were opened in the names of 17 security guards without informing them or obtaining their genuine consent. It is alleged that various transactions have taken place in these accounts since 2019. The question now is which documents were used to open the accounts, who controlled the accounts, and who ultimately benefited from these transactions.

There are also serious allegations regarding wages. MLA Thakre says that as per the contract's terms and fixed rates, every security guard should have received 25,600 rupees a month, but they were being paid only 15,500 rupees. For 17 guards, this difference works out to 1,71,700 rupees a month and 20,60,400 rupees a year. The MLA has demanded a special audit of all financial transactions during the entire contract period.

A group of security guards met MLA Vikas Thakre and submitted a written complaint. The complainants say they had raised their voice against these alleged irregularities in May 2026. Following this, the security agency concerned stopped their wages. When they did not receive their wages, these employees stopped reporting for work from June 2026. The MLA has demanded that the employees be paid the outstanding wages and the full wage difference amount, along with interest.

When the garbage collection contract began in November 2019, AG Enviro had assigned the work of deploying security guards at garbage transfer centres and vehicle parking areas across its five zones to Armor Security India Limited. The MLA says that in this entire arrangement, NMC's role is that of the "principal employer," and therefore the question arises as to why NMC did not monitor compliance with labour laws, wage rules and the contract's terms.

After the complaint, the guards also alleged that AG Enviro subsequently deployed guards from Elite Securitas Private Limited. The complainants claim that people from this new agency are also allegedly linked to Armor Security. The MLA has demanded an investigation into the tender process, eligibility conditions, and whether prior approval of Nagpur Municipal Corporation was taken before appointing the new agency. A high-level investigation and action against those responsible have been demanded in the entire matter.
