Nagpur civic body seizes 8 properties over Rs 8.81 crore tax dues

Nagpur Municipal Corporation has tightened action against big property tax defaulters. Under a special drive being run for property tax recovery in the Laxminagar zone, the civic body seized eight large properties on which a total of Rs 8,81,40,042 in property tax is outstanding.

According to an order from the corporation's tax department, the special drive is being run from August 20, 2026 to September 30, 2026. Under the drive, both seizure and warrant action is being taken against major defaulters in Laxminagar zone to speed up recovery of pending tax.

The corporation said seizure action was taken on a total of eight large properties under the drive, on which a combined Rs 8,81,40,042 in property tax was found outstanding. The biggest case is an open plot at Somalwada Chowk, Wardha Road, on which Rs 6,28,94,293 in tax alone is due. The plot holder is named as Fatima Siddiqui.

Among the other defaulters, Rs 82,56,437 is due on Sai Vatika, WHC Road, Kachipura-Ramdaspeth. Jagdish Sawji's property has Rs 19,48,670 pending, and Bharat Lawn has Rs 44,03,673 outstanding.

In addition, Sanman Lawn, Santosh Bhojnalay and Sanman Nursery together owe Rs 42,91,084. Sujal Sawji's property has Rs 12,13,502 pending, Better Home owes Rs 34,12,881, and Sardar Ki Rasoi has Rs 17,19,502 in tax pending.

The civic administration has clearly warned all these defaulters and property holders that if the outstanding property tax is not paid immediately, the water and sewer connections of the concerned properties will be cut with immediate effect and without delay.

The action in Laxminagar zone was carried out by Assistant Commissioner Dhananjay Jadhav along with several corporation staff, including Akash Ramteke, Purushottam Bhadang, Narendra Jambhulkar, Nitin Rathod, Gautam Meshram, Siyalal Chaudhary, Shildhan Sahare, Krishna Kawale, Sameer Parmar, Pramod Rangari, Nikhil Sontakke and Siddharth Meshram.
