Nagpur health panel orders vacant doctor, nurse, ASHA posts filled in 3 months

An integrated health committee has been formed to improve health services in Nagpur district's south-west assembly constituency. The committee's first meeting was held at Hyderabad House in Civil Lines, chaired by MLA Dr Parinay Fuke. The committee has been formed under the guidance of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
The meeting discussed in detail the problems facing health centres in the area. The committee gave clear instructions that vacant posts of doctors, nurses, technicians, pharmacists and other essential staff be filled within three months. It also directed that recruitment of ASHA workers be completed within the same timeline. Each institution was asked to separately report which posts lay vacant there.
Since the municipal corporation's direct recruitment process is currently closed, officials were told to arrange staff through outsourcing as per rules. Instructions were also given to speed up recruitment for vacant ASHA worker posts by immediately sending proposals.
Corporators from the area raised health-related problems in their respective wards during the meeting. Some spoke of irregular supply of medicines, while others pointed to a shortage of essential medical equipment. Some corporators raised the issue of incomplete construction work, repairs needed at health centres, and the need for security guards. Dr Parinay Fuke directed officials to take immediate action, saying no citizen's treatment should be held up due to a shortage of medicines, equipment or staff.
The meeting set out a four-point action plan going forward. The top priority is an adequate and regular supply of medicines at health centres. The plan also includes completing recruitment of vacant posts and ASHA workers within three months, providing necessary medical equipment and resources, and strengthening the basic facilities at health centres.
Instructions were also given to complete repairs at health centres soon, deploy security guards wherever needed, and shift centres currently operating in cramped or rented buildings to more suitable premises. During the meeting, a list of essential supplies needed for IGR Hospital was also submitted to Dr Fuke.
