Check your name on voter list, final roll on November 4: Divisional Commissioner Bidari

Under the Special Intensive Revision programme-2026 being carried out in Chandrapur district on the directions of the Election Commission of India, voter list inspector and Nagpur Divisional Commissioner Vijayalaxmi Bidari arrived in Chandrapur today (the 10th) for the first time to review the process of settling claims and objections on the draft voter list.

The district's draft voter list was released on August 31, 2026. Bidari appealed to voters to check their names in the list right away. The final list will be published on November 4, 2026.

She was speaking at a review meeting with political parties at the Collector's office. Present on the occasion were MLA Sudhir Mungantiwar, Collector Vasumana Pant, Municipal Commissioner Akunuri Naresh, Additional Collector Dr Nitin Vyavahare, Sub-Divisional Officer (Election) Sanjeev Deshmukh, along with all sub-divisional officers and representatives of political parties.

Bidari said a transparent and accurate voter list would be prepared with everyone's cooperation. She said the final voter list would be released on November 4, 2026. She said that if new names need to be added or any correction is required in the list, voters should check this in advance. Those whose names have errors or have not been mapped should contact the Booth Level Officer or Booth Level Agent after receiving a notice. She said they should carry the necessary documents to the hearing and get the correction completed. She added that no eligible voter would be left out of the voter list.

Draft voter lists have been put up at the Collector's office, all sub-divisional offices, tehsil offices, polling booths and local self-government body offices. Voter lists have also been given to political parties. Instructions have been issued to set up special camps at settlements, hamlets and localities to check the names of voters with disabilities and elderly voters.

Citizens have been asked to check their names in the voter list. If a name is not in the list, or if a person is turning 18 on October 1, 2026, they should fill Form 6; to have a name removed or to raise an objection, Form 7 should be filled; and if members of the same family are listed at different booths, or a change in age, name or address is required, Form 8 should be submitted. The last date for filling all forms is September 30, 2026.

Bidari made it clear that the draft voter list released so far is not the final list. The first phase of the Special Intensive Revision-2026 mainly examined whether a voter actually resides at the given address. Hence, those who do not actually reside at the address given in their application were not included in this draft list. Voters who were not found at the given address or have moved elsewhere, but are still living within the state's boundary, can now apply to have their names added to the list at their current address. Similarly, the names of deceased voters have been removed from the list. Also, the process of adding new voters who turn 18 after October 1, 2024, is ongoing. Those whose names could not be included in the list due to being away from home for a long period or other reasons can also now apply for registration as voters.

The current phase of the Special Intensive Revision drive is focused only on adding new names, so that no eligible citizen is left out of the voter list. The entire exercise will be completed by early November. Therefore, comparing the current list with earlier figures would be entirely inappropriate and incorrect. Any comparison or assessment should wait until the final list is officially released.
