One-way traffic on weekends at Kas plateau until October 31

As tourist crowds keep growing with the start of the flower season at the Kas flower plateau, Satara police have made a major change to traffic arrangements in the area to prevent jams. From now on, a one-way traffic system will be in force in the Kas flower plateau premises on Saturdays, Sundays and government holidays.

Superintendent of Police Nikhil Pingley has issued a notification on this under Section 34 of the Maharashtra Police Act, 1951. The new arrangement will be in force from 12:01 am on September 12, 2026 to 11:59 pm on October 31, 2026.

According to the notification, traffic coming from Satara towards the Kas flower plateau, Kas Dam and Bamnoli will now be diverted via Ghatai Devi temple junction and Parking No. 1 towards Kas Dam and Bamnoli. Traffic coming from Bamnoli and Kas Dam towards Satara will come via Parking No. 2 near Kas Dam and through the Kas flower plateau towards Satara. Traffic in both directions has thus been diverted through separate routes in an attempt to reduce congestion in the Kas area.

Due to the ongoing flower season at the Kas plateau, large crowds of tourists are gathering on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Since the route to Satara-Bamnoli and Kas Dam passes through the Kas plateau itself, an increase in the number of vehicles leads to congestion. The decision has been taken to spare tourists and drivers this trouble.

Police personnel will be deployed at the points where traffic is being diverted. The police administration has appealed to citizens and drivers to keep these route changes in mind and cooperate with the police.
