The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur has started the online registration process for the Joint Admission Test for Masters, or JAM 2027. The process began on September 12, 2026. Candidates wanting admission to various masters, joint masters or PhD courses can apply at jam.iitkgp.ac.in.

The application process is straightforward. Candidates must first visit the jam.iitkgp.ac.in website, click on the "Application Portal" and register. They then need to fill in their academic details in the form, upload the required documents and pay the application fee applicable to their category.

Candidates should keep certain documents ready while filling the form. These include their class 10 marksheet or certificate, a passport-size photograph and scanned signature, a valid photo ID proof, and academic qualification documents. Candidates to whom it applies must also submit a category certificate, and candidates with disabilities must submit a PwD certificate and UDID card.

Candidates can apply for a maximum of two papers out of a total of seven test papers. The exam fee varies depending on whether one or two papers are chosen. The exam has been scheduled for February 14, 2027. The first session will run from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and will include papers in Chemistry (CY), Geology (GG) and Mathematics (MA). The second session will run from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm and will include papers in Biotechnology (BT), Economics (EN), Mathematical Statistics (MS) and Physics (PH).

On fees, women candidates and those in the SC, ST and PwD categories will have to pay Rs 1,000 for one paper and Rs 1,350 for two papers. For all other candidates, the fee is Rs 2,000 for one paper and Rs 2,700 for two papers.

Admission to various courses at different IITs and other reputed institutes will be given based on marks obtained in the JAM exam. These courses include MSc, MSc (Tech), MS (Research), MSc-MTech Dual Degree, Joint MSc-PhD, MSc-PhD Dual Degree and Integrated PhD.
