Ghugus residents protest heavy vehicle movement through Tilaknagar
Tilaknagar residents in Ghugus, Chandrapur, have petitioned the municipal council over the constant flow of trucks and heavy vehicles through their locality.
Heavy vehicles pass through the Tilaknagar area of Ghugus, Chandrapur, at all hours of the day and night, and residents say their frustration over this is growing. Trucks, hyva tippers and vehicles carrying coal and sand have raised serious concerns about the safety of ordinary residents, schoolchildren and workers, according to people in the area.
On this issue, citizens of Tilaknagar submitted a written petition to the chief officer of Ghugus Municipal Council on September 10, 2026, demanding immediate action.
According to residents, heavy vehicles pass continuously through Tilaknagar, causing dust, traffic jams and unsafe conditions on the road. They say the risk of accidents is especially high in the morning and evening, when large numbers of schoolchildren and workers commuting to duty use the same road, coinciding with the constant movement and speed of the heavy vehicles.
Residents have directly asked whether the administration is waiting for a major accident before taking necessary steps. They have also raised the question of who is responsible for traffic arrangements to ensure the safety of students, workers and ordinary citizens who use this road daily, given that heavy vehicle traffic continues on it around the clock.
Residents say they are not content with merely lodging a complaint and have demanded a firm, permanent arrangement. The petition asks that a fixed time schedule be set for heavy vehicles, or that an alternative route be provided for them if needed.
It also demands strict action against vehicles that violate traffic rules, and calls for immediate steps to improve the traffic situation in the Tilaknagar area.
Residents say this is not merely a traffic issue but a serious matter concerning public safety. They have expressed hope that the municipal council and the police administration will jointly visit the area, examine the situation on the ground, and put in place clear rules and arrangements for the movement of heavy vehicles.
A copy of the petition has also been given to the police inspector at Ghugus police station. Residents say they are now watching to see whether the administration merely goes through the motions on this demand or actually brings heavy vehicle movement in Tilaknagar under firm control.
The petition was submitted on behalf of several residents, including Vinod Janjarla, Manmohan Mahakali, Raju Chaudhary, Rohit Gorre, Nikhil, Rahul, Deepak, Varshit, Vanshi, Durgaswami, Sampat and Vishal.
