2 boys drown in pond during Gauri idol immersion in Kalmeshwar's Jhilpa village

A festival turned to mourning in Jhilpa village of Katol taluka after two young boys drowned in a pond during Gauri idol immersion. The accident has left both families and the entire village in deep shock. Both boys were connected to sports, so the news of their deaths also sent a wave of grief through the local sporting community.

According to information received, women from the village had gone to the pond around 11 am on Tuesday for the Gauri immersion, and some children had accompanied them. During this, 13-year-old Ayush Harish Kumre and 13-year-old Darshan Dhanraj Lad drowned in the pond. The entire village of Jhilpa was left stunned by the heartbreaking accident, which took place at the very pond where people had gathered to immerse the Gauri idols.

Ayush was a student of class eight, while Darshan was a student of class seven. Both were kabaddi players with the Jai Bhavani Krida Mandal and played on the field with great enthusiasm. As soon as it was known that the two boys had drowned, their uncle immediately jumped into the pond and pulled both of them out. They were then rushed to Katol Rural Hospital without delay, where doctors declared both boys dead after examination. Family members and villagers rushed to the hospital, but by then it was too late to save the boys.

The sudden deaths of the two boys, considered promising players, have left their friends and fellow players deeply shocked. The atmosphere that had been filled with the joy of Gauri immersion turned to cries of grief within minutes, and mourning has spread across Jhilpa village. For both families, the festival has now become a sorrow that will perhaps never be forgotten. Katol police have registered a case and begun further investigation.
