Buldhana: Lek Ladki scheme benefits over 12,000 families, aids daughters education
In Buldhana district, over 12,300 of 14,620 registered families have received benefits under the Lek Ladki scheme for daughters.
The Lek Ladki scheme, launched by the government to encourage the birth of daughters and support their education and future financial security, has become a major support for thousands of families in Buldhana district. Under the scheme, 14,620 families in the district had registered for benefits. Of these, around 12,300 families have received the scheme's benefits so far, providing financial assistance for the upbringing and education of daughters.
The scheme aims to create a positive attitude toward the birth of daughters in society and ensure their education, upbringing and economic empowerment. Financial assistance is given to daughters of economically weaker families at different stages under the scheme. When awareness about the scheme was spread in the district, a large number of families registered in their daughters' names. Of the applications received so far, 12,300 families have received direct benefit, while the rest are still being processed for various reasons. It is expected that the remaining eligible beneficiaries will also receive the scheme's benefit once the necessary documents are completed.
The scheme provides financial support from the birth of a daughter through her education, which has brought relief to many families. It is proving especially useful for families in rural areas and those who are economically weak. The government launched the scheme with the idea that money should not be a hurdle in daughters' education and that their future should be made more secure. Through it, an effort is being made to reduce the gap between sons and daughters, giving daughters equal opportunity, ensuring they complete their education, and helping them become self-reliant.
The administration said that 2,245 applications received by the Women and Child Development office at the taluka level have been approved and sent online to the commissioner's office.
To avail the scheme, a yellow or saffron ration card, the family's annual income certificate, and proof of Maharashtra state tribal status are required. The beneficiary daughter's birth certificate, her Aadhaar card and her mother's Aadhaar card are also needed. A photocopy of the passbook of the joint bank account of the beneficiary and mother must be submitted. If the beneficiary's mother is not alive, a death certificate and the father's Aadhaar card are required, and in such cases the joint bank account of the beneficiary and father must be linked to Aadhaar.
Pramod Endole, Women and Child Development officer of Buldhana, said that families eligible for the Lek Ladki scheme can contact their anganwadi worker to register.
