Truck collision in Bhandara kills 8 labourers on the spot
A Traxcavator vehicle collided with an Eicher truck near Bhandara, killing eight Chhattisgarh labourers instantly
A tragic accident has been reported from Bhandara district. Near Pimpalgaon in Lakhani Sakoli taluka of the district, an Eicher truck and a Traxcavator vehicle collided head-on, killing 8 people on the spot. All those killed in the accident are said to be labourers from Chhattisgarh state.
According to initial information, some labourers from Chhattisgarh were travelling towards Nagpur in the Traxcavator vehicle. At the same time, an Eicher truck was pulling out onto the road from a petrol pump in Pimpalgaon. The driver of the Traxcavator, coming from behind, lost control of the vehicle and the speeding Traxcavator collided directly with the Eicher truck. The collision was so severe that the Traxcavator vehicle was completely smashed.
Eight people travelling in the Traxcavator died instantly in the accident. As soon as news of the incident was received, National Highway police and the local administration reached the spot immediately and began relief and rescue work. Those seriously injured in the accident were immediately taken by ambulance to Bhandara's government medical college for treatment.
According to information received, all those killed were labourers from Chhattisgarh, and the accident occurred while they were travelling towards Nagpur. The Traxcavator carrying the labourers struck the Eicher truck that was pulling out from the petrol pump, and initial investigation suggests the accident occurred because the driver lost control. National Highway police said eight people died on the spot. The remaining seriously injured have been admitted to Bhandara medical college for treatment.
The accident on the highway caused traffic congestion for some time, but police cleared the vehicles involved to the side and restored traffic flow. Police have registered a case in the matter and further investigation is under way.
