Bhadgaon: Mauli Foundation holds health check for special children, plants trees

A birthday was celebrated in an unusual way in Bhadgaon this time, bringing smiles to young children's faces and adding trees to the ground. The event was held at the Shri Sai Samarth residential school for children with intellectual disabilities, where the programme was organised specially for the special children living there. The aim was to look after their health, bring joy to their faces, and also give a message about protecting the environment.

The programme was jointly organised by Mauli Foundation and Anjali Hospital. It was the 50th birthday of Mauli Foundation president Manohar Suryavanshi, so a health checkup of the children began from the morning. Dr Tejas Kotecha of Anjali Hospital arrived with his team for this. The team examined each child one by one, checking whether anyone had any ailment or needed any medicine, and explaining how the children should be cared for. The doctors also spoke warmly with the children.

After the checkup, everyone gathered on the school premises for a tree plantation drive. Several different kinds of trees were planted. The thought behind it was that trees sustain us. Those present said that planting a tree is not enough by itself, and that watering and caring for it afterward is equally important. The children too planted trees with great enthusiasm.

Following this, a cake was cut for Manohar Suryavanshi's birthday. Doctors, hospital staff, patients and their families were present on the occasion. But the real joy came afterward, when a special meal was arranged for the children. The cake was cut sitting together with the children, who were delighted at the sight, and their happiness was evident on their faces. Everyone sat and ate together, with no distinction of age, all seated in a single line. There was as much warmth in that meal as there was taste.

Several well-known people from the village attended the event, including Yuvraj Suryavanshi, Sangita Jadhav, retired teacher Jayashri Purnapatre, Urdu school chairman Karim Khan, Zakir Qureshi, girls' school principal Suresh Rokade, S.D. Patil, and all the workers of Mauli Foundation and Anjali Hospital.
