Baramati Lok Adalat settles 5,627 cases, recovers Rs 6.44 crore

A national Lok Adalat was held at Baramati court on Saturday, September 12. A total of 5,627 cases, both filed and pre-litigation, were settled through mutual agreement. Together, these cases resulted in the recovery of Rs 6,44,72,623. The Lok Adalat was presided over by District Judge-1 V. C. Barde.

Among the cases settled, 19 were related to motor vehicle accidents, in which both parties reached a settlement. In these 19 cases, the parties concerned were awarded a total compensation of Rs 2,53,70,000.

Advocate Santikar and Advocate Bhoi represented the insurance companies in these cases. Representing the parties were Advocate Ajay Khomane, Advocate Akshay Mahamuni, Advocate Abhi Deshmukh, Advocate Khandekar, Advocate Phulari and Advocate Wagh. Separate panels were formed for the Lok Adalat, comprising District Judge-1 V. C. Barde, District Judge-4 H. A. Wani, Civil Judge Senior Division D. S. Jhanwar, Fourth Joint Civil Judge Senior Division P. M. Patil, Second Joint Civil Judge Junior Division P. P. Kale and Third Joint Civil Judge Junior Division V. V. Deshmukh.

The event was attended by Baramati Bar Association secretary Sneha Makhare and treasurer Harshad Tikote, along with other lawyers. Also present were court staff and officials from Mahavitaran, State Bank of India, Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, Bank of Maharashtra, Canara Bank, the municipal council and the panchayat samiti.

District Judge-1 V. C. Barde said the next national Lok Adalat will be held on December 12, 2026. He appealed to people to make the most of the Lok Adalat to settle their cases through mutual consent and agreement, so that pending cases in court could be resolved quickly.
