Fire at tiles showroom in Nagpur guts wooden panels, no injuries

A fire broke out on Tuesday morning at an under-construction shop named "Shri Om Decor" at Baidyanath Chowk in the Imamwada police station area of Nagpur, causing panic among locals. Wooden panels stored inside the shop caught fire, and the blaze quickly turned severe. No one was injured in the incident.

The incident occurred around 11 am. According to reports, people in the adjoining shop, said to belong to Satish Tawari, first heard the sound of the fire. When people nearby reached the spot after hearing the noise, they found that wooden panels kept for construction work were already engulfed in flames. Because the material was wood, the fire spread rapidly, and smoke and flames soon began billowing out of the shop.

The Cotton Market fire station was informed of the fire at 11:28 am. On receiving the information, two fire brigade vehicles were dispatched immediately and reached the spot within just two minutes, by 11:30 am. Firefighters began the operation to douse the flames without delay. After considerable effort, the fire was finally brought under control. Thanks to the swift action of the fire brigade team, the fire was prevented from spreading to nearby shops.

As per initial information, the fire may have been caused by sparking and a short circuit in a flex board put up for decoration in the shop. However, the actual cause of the fire is still being investigated. Goods worth lakhs of rupees kept in the shop were reduced to ashes in the fire, though the exact extent of the damage is yet to be assessed.

Construction work was underway in the shop at the time of the incident, and several other shops were located nearby. The rapid spread of the fire caused panic among nearby shopkeepers. However, the fire brigade team arrived in time, preventing the fire from spreading to neighbouring shops. Fire department officials said the fire was brought under control in time, averting a bigger accident. Further investigation into the matter is continuing.
