Students who hold a medical degree from abroad have an important update. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has begun the registration process for the FMGE October 2026 session. Eligible candidates can apply on the official website from 5 pm today.
This is the screening test that Indian citizens and Overseas Citizens of India who have obtained an MBBS or medical degree abroad must clear to get permission to practice medicine in India. As per the schedule released by NBEMS, the application process, which began today, will run until September 25. The FMGE October session exam will then be held on October 31, 2026, at designated exam centres across the country in a computer-based test format.
On the timeline, the detailed information bulletin for the October 2026 session was released on September 11, and online applications opened the same day from 5 pm. Candidates must submit their forms by September 25, after which the exam will be held on October 31. The result is expected by November 30, 2026.
On the exam pattern, the October 2026 session will have a single paper with a total of 300 multiple choice questions. The test will be conducted over a computer network and all questions will be in English only. Four options will be given for each question, from which the candidate must choose the correct answer. During the exam, candidates can also mark a question to revisit it later if time permits. The exam fee for FMGE October 2026 is Rs 5,250, with an additional Rs 945 as GST. This means candidates will have to pay a total of Rs 6,195.
The application process is simple. Once the registration link is active, candidates can visit the official NBEMS website and select the FMGE October 2026 option. They will then need to register on the portal, log in, and fill in all the details asked for in the application form. After uploading the required documents, the exam fee can be paid and the form submitted. Finally, it is important to download the confirmation page and keep it safe.
Candidates should keep in mind that only one application form can be submitted for FMGE 2026. If someone submits more than one form, NBEMS will issue an admit card only for the form with the higher application number, and all other forms will be cancelled. In such cases, the fee already paid may also be forfeited, so candidates should take special care on this point.
