Old rivalry sparks sword clash between two groups in Nagpur, cross FIR filed

A dispute between two groups over an old rivalry in the Wathoda police station area of Nagpur escalated to the point where swords were drawn. Three men from one group arrived at the complainant's house, assaulted him and tried to attack him with a sword. The complainant then also drew a sword and tried to strike back at the other side.

After the incident, both sides filed complaints with the police. Based on the complaints, Wathoda police registered a cross FIR and took action against people from both groups.

The incident took place at plot number 61, Saibaba Nagar, in the Wathoda police station area. According to police, the complainant, Pawan Shende, and the accused already knew each other. Both groups are involved in the transport business, and there had been an ongoing rivalry between them over an old dispute.

Police said the accused, Riteek Shende, went to the complainant's house, where an argument broke out over abuse and threats, after which Riteek forced his way into the house. Nikhil Nakhate and Hitesh Bagde also arrived there. It is alleged that the two of them held the complainant down while Riteek drew a sword and tried to attack him.

At this point, the complainant also drew a sword and tried to retaliate against the accused. The two sides came face to face and the situation turned tense.

After the incident, both sides filed separate complaints at Wathoda police station. Taking cognisance of both complaints, police registered a cross FIR. Action was taken against Riteek Shende, Nikhil Nakhate and Hitesh Bagde from the accused side, as well as against people from the complainant's side, and people from both sides have been arrested in the case.

Wathoda police are investigating the matter. They are trying to establish what actually triggered the dispute and what further action will be taken regarding the weapons used in the incident.
