Wardha police raid gambling den, seize Rs 2.55 lakh worth of goods, arrest 11

Ramnagar police station has carried out a major operation against a gang running a gambling den in the Gaurakshan ward area of Wardha. Between 2 am and 4 am on the night of September 9, gambling was underway inside a closed house, based on a tip-off received by police. Acting on this information, police raided the spot and caught 11 people red-handed playing cards for money using a 52-card deck.

Police seized goods worth a total of Rs 2,55,470 from the spot. This included a 52-card deck worth Rs 2,500, cash of Rs 47,200 recovered from the accused during the gambling and in searches, 11 mobile phones used in the gambling worth a total of Rs 1,33,000, and a Honda Shine motorcycle belonging to the accused valued at Rs 75,000.

Those arrested include Jai Pradeep Kaithwas (32), Rohit Sunil Kasore (55), Roshan Gajanan Jadhav (39), Pramod Sohanlal Raikwar (39), Prathamesh Sunil Bhalerao (26), Chetan Dilip Raut (33), Prateek Avinash Savarkar (25), Shubham Deepak Bansod (32), Aman Jaimangal Khandare (20), Bobby Uttam Mogre (28) and Akib Khan Bismilla Khan Pathan (19). All the accused are residents of Wardha.

Police have registered a case, crime number 899/26, against the accused under Section 12 of the Maharashtra Gambling Act. The case is being further investigated by Ramnagar police.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Saurabh Kumar Agrawal, Additional Superintendent of Police Sadashiv Waghmare and Sub-Divisional Police Officer Mahadik. The raid was conducted by a prohibition squad team led by Police Sub-Inspector Kiran Mahajan, under the direction of Ramnagar police station's Police Inspector Paurnima Rakhonde. The team included Avi Bansod, Manoj Bhomale, Mukesh Wandile, Vicky Anerao and Nilesh Waghmare.
