UGC NET re-exam answer key out, here is how to raise objections

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the provisional answer key for the UGC NET June 2026 re-exam. The answer key has been issued for candidates who appeared in the English, Commerce and Sociology papers. Students who took the exam can now check their answer key along with their recorded response sheet. If a candidate has any doubt about a question or its answer, they can raise an online objection within the deadline set by the NTA. Candidates who appeared in the re-exam will need to visit the official website, ugcnet.nta.nic.in, to check the provisional answer key and their recorded response sheet.

The re-exam for the English, Commerce and Sociology papers was held on September 9 and 10, 2026, at various centres across the country. This was because, following complaints about the question paper of the earlier exam, the NTA got it reviewed again. An expert committee's inquiry found typing errors in the question paper, issues with translation, some names missing, errors in book names, and problems with the language of the questions. Because of these lapses, the NTA had decided to hold the exam again for all three subjects.

Candidates who have doubts about any answer given in the provisional answer key can raise an online objection. A processing fee of Rs 200 has to be paid online for raising an objection on each question. The last date for paying the fee is 11:59 pm on September 13. The NTA has made clear that no objection will be accepted after the deadline.

The process for raising an objection is simple. Candidates first need to go to the official UGC NET website, ugcnet.nta.nic.in. They then need to click on the link related to the June 2026 provisional answer key. After that, they must log in using the required login details, application number, and date of birth or password. Once logged in, the provisional answer key, question paper and recorded response will appear on the screen. Candidates can check their answers and select the question on which they want to raise an objection. Supporting evidence or documents can also be uploaded if needed. After that, the objection must be submitted by paying the fee of Rs 200 for each question. Once the entire process is complete, candidates should download and keep the confirmation page and payment receipt.

An expert committee will examine all the objections sent by candidates. If an objection is found to be correct, the necessary changes will be made in the provisional answer key, and the answer key for that subject will be updated on this basis for all candidates. In such a case, other candidates will not need to raise a fresh objection on that question. Also, the Rs 200 fee for any objection that is accepted will be refunded. According to the NTA, the final answer key will be used as the basis for preparing the result.
