Man running sex racket also held for peddling MD drug in Nagpur

Nagpur: A young man who was running a sex racket alongside drug peddling has been caught by police. A team from the SSB of Nagpur city crime branch arrested the man and freed a young woman.

The accused is Manthan Gopal Thote (23), a resident of Chandramani Nagar, Ajni. Manthan had been running the sex racket for about six months. He would lure poor young women into his racket by promising them quick money, and send them to clients. Many clients seeking women were also addicted to MD, and there was good money in selling MD. His associate Kunal Yelekar is an MD peddler, and Manthan started selling MD with Kunal's help, supplying the drug to clients who wanted women.

The SSB got wind of this and contacted Manthan through a decoy customer. Manthan called the decoy customer near a library in Hanuman Nagar, Ajni. A team from the SSB, led by PI Darshan Patil, reached the spot. As soon as the decoy customer struck the deal, Manthan was taken into custody. MD was also recovered from him.

The SSB recovered MD, a mobile phone and an Activa scooter along with other goods worth Rs 1.18 lakh. The young woman found with him is a local resident. Manthan's associate Kunal is being searched for.

Several others running sex rackets on lines similar to Manthan's are also selling MD, and police are proving weak in stopping the sale of MD.
