Panchpavli police arrested two men accused of threatening a young man with an airgun, assaulting him and robbing him of cash.
A young man in Nagpur's Panchpavli area was threatened with a gun-like airgun, assaulted and robbed of cash. Panchpavli police have arrested two people in the case.
The accused have been identified as Somesh Maraskolhe and Sagar Yeti. Police said both had previous cases linked to serious crimes registered against them.
According to the complaint, a young man named Pankaj Kukde had gone near the Jaiswal Country Liquor shop at Mehendibaug Power House Chowk. The accused approached him there and began hurling abuse at him without any reason. In the altercation that followed, the two assaulted Kukde and also threatened to kill him.
Some time after the first incident, as Kukde was returning home, the accused approached him again. According to police, Somesh Maraskolhe took out a gun-like airgun from his pocket and threatened the victim with it, then assaulted him again.
While this was happening, Sagar Yeti seized the opportunity and forcibly took cash from the victim's shirt pocket. After taking the money, both accused fled the spot on a motorcycle without wasting any time.
After receiving the victim's complaint, Panchpavli police immediately began an investigation. To trace the accused, police checked CCTV footage in the area and also worked to reach them using technical information and the help of informers. Following the investigation, both accused were taken into custody. Police said both confessed to their involvement in the incident during questioning.
During the investigation, police seized the cash robbed from the victim, the airgun used in the crime and the two-wheeler from Somesh Maraskolhe.
Police also examined the past records of both men and found that they had several previous cases registered against them. Police said the two already had around a dozen cases related to serious charges such as murder, assault and robbery registered against them at Panchpavli and Yashodhara Nagar police stations.
Further investigation into the case is currently underway.
