Video of whole chicken leg piece added to jhalmuri in Bangladesh goes viral

Everyone has eaten roadside jhalmuri, the simple mix of puffed rice, onion, sev and chutney. But in Bangladesh, a vendor has made a version of jhalmuri that has left viewers stunned. A food blogger posted a video on Instagram showing a man preparing jhalmuri by adding chicken to it. The video has since gone viral, with about 2 crore views so far.

In the video, the vendor first takes puffed rice in a large container. Chicken gravy is then added to it. Along with the gravy, finely chopped onion, tomato and coriander leaves are also mixed in. Green chutney and sweet chutney are then added. Boiled potato chivda is prepared and mixed in as well. The entire mixture is thoroughly mixed by hand. And finally, he does the most distinctive thing.

He picks up a whole chicken leg piece and puts it into the jhalmuri. The chicken is then broken apart by hand and mixed into the puffed rice. More onion and coriander are sprinkled on top before it is served in a paper box. The dish looks somewhat like biryani and somewhat like jhalmuri.

An account named jeetwinapk shared the video on Twitter (X) on September 12, 2026, writing that Bangladesh has given jhalmuri a tremendous upgrade, with puffed rice, spices and a whole chicken leg piece on top, calling it a great example of street food innovation.

After the video went viral, people reacted strongly in the comments section. One user wrote that vendors are now wearing gloves, and that it was good to see. Another user wrote that they wanted to eat it right away. Someone else called it the Bangladeshi people's biryani, since it has both chicken and puffed rice that resembles rice.

Not everyone liked it, though. One user wrote that they have a very sensitive stomach and would never eat this. Social media is increasingly bringing such unusual dishes to light, with some adding ice cream to panipuri and others adding chicken to jhalmuri. How it tastes is not known, but it certainly looks striking.
