Sword attack in Nagpur's Sakkardara over misunderstanding
Two men attacked a man with a sword in Nagpur's Sakkardara after wrongly suspecting he had come to fight, leaving him injured and both accused arrested.
A young man's throat was attacked with a sword following a misunderstanding in the Sakkardara police station area of Nagpur. The incident took place in Sindhiban Colony in Tajabad, leaving Mohammed Shakir Mohammed Iqbal injured.
According to sources, Shakir had gone to Sheikh Sohail's place to collect money he had lent him. A dispute was going on among some people there. During this, the accused Sayyed Khanu alias Patel and Sayyed Sardar alias Younus mistakenly believed that Shakir had come intending to pick a fight. The two caught hold of Shakir.
Sardar alias Younus brought a sword from home and, threatening to kill him, struck at Shakir's neck. Shakir put his hand up to block the blow, suffering a serious injury to the thumb of his left hand in the attempt. Before a second blow could land, Sheikh Sohail intervened and defused the dispute. Both accused fled while issuing threats.
Shakir is undergoing treatment in hospital. Sakkardara police have arrested the accused and registered a case of attempt to murder and under the Arms Act. The accused Khanu alias Patel has a prior criminal case registered against him.
