Leopard attacks dog sleeping on rooftop in Rudraprayag, dog fights it off

A video from Rudraprayag in Uttarakhand has caused a stir on social media. In the dark of night, a leopard entered a residential area and climbed onto the second-floor rooftop of a house, where it spotted a dog sleeping comfortably on a table.

On seeing the dog, the leopard took aim, moved in slowly and launched a deadly attack on it. A fierce struggle followed between the two that lasted a while, making the scene extremely frightening. The predator attacked the dog, but the dog was not ready to give up either.

The CCTV footage clearly shows the dog was initially startled by the attack, but then fought back against the leopard with full courage. It began striking the leopard with its paws and tried hard to drive it away. Faced with the dog's fighting spirit, the leopard was eventually forced to retreat and fled the rooftop quietly. The entire fight lasted about 25 seconds.

It is being said that wild animals entering human settlements is not a new occurrence in several parts of Uttarakhand due to the dense forests in the region, and this is believed to be the reason behind the incident.

The video was shared on X from an account named @thetatvaindia, with a caption saying that the dog forced the leopard to flee after the attack in Rudraprayag. The video has been trending heavily since it was posted, with users posting various comments. One user wrote that the predator escaped becoming prey today, another praised the dog's courage, while another wrote that they thought the dog was certain to be killed, but the tables turned in the end.
