Pune's Sarthak Chavan wins three titles at Madras circuit
Sarthak Chavan swept the Super Sport and Electric RTE categories at the Madras International Circuit to complete a hat-trick of titles.
Nineteen-year-old Sarthak Chavan of Pune put up a stunning show at the MRF Indian National Racing Challenge 2W-2026 held at the Madras International Circuit. Racing for the Petronas TVS Racing team, Sarthak won back-to-back races in the Super Sport 301-400cc Open category to claim a double title. He then completed a hat-trick by finishing first in the Electric RTE category of the Petronas TVS Racing one-make championship as well.
In the race held on Sunday, Sarthak started from pole position but ran into trouble early on. His own Petronas TVS Racing teammate Rakshit Dave took advantage of this to move into the lead. Both riders held their positions until the final lap, but on the last lap, at turn 4, Sarthak overtook Rakshit to win the race. Rahil Pillarisetty of Hyderabad finished third. Sarthak finished first in both races of this category. He had missed the qualifying round of the event, and so started the first race from the last position but still finished first.
Sarthak kept up his winning run in the Electric RTE category as well. In this three-round category of the Petronas TVS Racing one-make championship, Sarthak finished first, completing his hat-trick of titles. Chirant Vishwanath of Bengaluru finished second and Savian Sabu finished third in this category.
Earlier, in the TVS Racing International Championship category of the Asia Road Racing Championship, Sarthak had reached the podium in the season's first round held in Malaysia. He was then considered a strong contender for the title in the second round held in May at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand, and he proved it with his performance.
Sarthak had also won a title in the Super Sport 301-400cc category of the MRF Indian National Racing Challenge held at the Madras International Circuit on August 16, riding for Petronas TVS Racing. In this six-round race, Sarthak ran in third place for most of the time, behind his teammate Chirant Vishwanath of Bengaluru and Rahil Pillarisetty of Hyderabad. But in the final round, Sarthak overtook both of them to take the lead and win the title.
