Try these homemade facials if a parlour treatment does not brighten your skin
Simple kitchen ingredients can give skin a glow at home without spending on expensive parlour facials
After Ganpati Bappa arrives, there is an atmosphere of joy and festivity all around. Between cleaning the house, prayers and hosting guests, the whole day passes without one realising it, making it difficult to find time for self-care.
Many women get a facial or clean-up done at a parlour a day or two before Ganpati. But even after spending thousands of rupees, the skin often does not get the glow it needs. Instead of spending money on expensive treatments, facials or clean-ups every time, a homemade facial can be done at home instead. This makes the skin look glowing and also reduces tanning.
Due to the changing weather, skin often becomes dull and dry, for which people turn to expensive creams. But things available in the kitchen can be used instead. Before starting the facial, first clean the face with a mild face wash. After this, apply rose water to the face using cotton and let the skin dry for two to three minutes.
Scrubbing is very important to remove dust, dirt and stickiness accumulated on the face. For this, make a thick paste by mixing oats and curd in a mixer jar. Apply this paste all over the face and massage gently. Massaging removes dead skin accumulated on the face and makes it look clean. Coffee powder can also be used for scrubbing.
After scrubbing, the face should be steamed. Steaming helps clear the dirt accumulated in the skin's pores. Keep in mind that steaming should not be done for too long, otherwise the face can become dry. Those with very dry skin should apply a face pack of curd and honey, and those with oily skin should apply a paste made of sandalwood powder and rose water. After applying the face pack, leave it on for some time and then wash the face with lukewarm water.
Do not forget to apply moisturiser after the facial, otherwise the face can become dry. For skin care, doing a facial alone is not enough; drinking plenty of water regularly, eating nutritious food, physical activity and getting good sleep are equally important. All of this keeps the skin beautiful and glowing from within. Expensive products are not always needed to enhance facial glow; things available in the kitchen also help keep the skin glowing from within.
