Ganesh Chaturthi at the Ambani family home Antilia was, as always, marked by decor, tradition and a crowd of celebrities. Several stars arrived this year too, but Nita Ambani's traditional look stood out. She wore a shimmering saffron and magenta silk saree, and the grand necklace she paired it with elevated her entire look. This time, it is the necklace that is drawing the most attention.
This is no ordinary necklace. It is called Amrapali Bharatam, and it was created by blending different jewellery traditions from across India. At first glance, it looks as though generations of heritage have come together in a single necklace. That is why Nita Ambani's Ganeshotsav look is making headlines not just for the colour of her saree, but for this unique, regal necklace.
The story behind the necklace is even more interesting than its sparkle. The brand that created it spent nearly three years collecting old and rare jewellery pieces from different parts of India. Fourteen skilled artisans then worked for about six months, joining these different pieces together to create one complete work of art.
What makes this necklace special is that it uses pieces of jewellery that were never originally made to be part of a necklace. Elements from jhumars, South Indian nose rings, passa, earrings, badges and chandbalis have all been incorporated into it. A traditional Kerala-style necklace has also been added at its centre. The sparkle of diamonds, rubies, emeralds and pearls adds further to its grandeur.
Interestingly, Sonam Kapoor has also worn this same necklace. She wore it during her maternity photoshoot in November 2025, pairing it with a white and gold chogha-dhoti suit. The same piece of jewellery has thus appeared on two very different occasions in two completely different styles. The necklace stayed the same, but its styling looked fresh and special both times. Rooted in Indian tradition, the necklace is strikingly beautiful, which is why Nita Ambani's look is, once again this year, the subject of much discussion.
