A dispute over just Rs 2,000 in Nagpur's Vathoda area escalated so far that two friends attacked a young man with a knife. The quarrel began over repayment of the money and gradually grew until it turned into an assault. The young man suffered injuries to his neck, hand and stomach and was admitted to hospital for treatment.

The incident took place under the jurisdiction of Vathoda police station. According to police, the complainant Shailesh Meshram and the accused Roshan More and Anurag Dhok knew each other beforehand, the three were acquainted and shared a friendship.

Police said Roshan needed money to pay a vehicle instalment, so Shailesh had lent him about Rs 2,000 to help. A few days later Shailesh asked for the money back, but Roshan kept avoiding him and was unwilling to repay it.

About two days ago, the complainant and both accused met near a wine shop close to Chamat Chowk in Vathoda. After drinking there, the dispute over repayment flared up again between Shailesh and Roshan and gradually turned into a fight.

According to the complaint, Roshan abused Shailesh and confronted him over repeatedly asking for the money, and told him clearly that he would not repay it. Both accused also threatened him with serious consequences, further heating up the situation.

The quarrel escalated and Roshan pulled out a knife from his pocket, while Anurag held Shailesh from behind so he could not flee. Roshan then stabbed Shailesh, inflicting deep wounds on his neck, hand and stomach.

After the attack, both accused fled the scene in panic. The injured Shailesh was rushed to hospital for treatment.

Based on his complaint, Vathoda police have registered a case and begun an investigation. Police have arrested Anurag Dhok, while efforts are on to trace Roshan More.
