Property dealer shot in Nagpur money dispute, six held

A dispute over an old money transaction in the Ghotal Panjari area under Beltarodi police station limits in Nagpur ended in firing. Kartik Dharmik, who works in property dealing, was shot and injured in the incident. Beltarodi police have arrested six accused in the case and seized a revolver, one live cartridge and two vehicles from them.

According to police, a clash broke out between two groups over a money transaction at Manewada Chowk on Friday night. Everyone went back to their homes at the time, but the dispute flared up again a short while later. Kartik Dharmik reached the Ghotal Panjari area with his associates and called Sunil Banait down from his house. There, the two sides argued again over the money transaction.

Sunil Banait then called his associates to the spot, following which Anand Thakur and a few others arrived in a Duster car. It is alleged that as the dispute escalated, Anand Thakur pulled out a revolver and fired at Kartik Dharmik. Kartik was seriously injured in the shooting and has been admitted to AIIMS hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.

On receiving news of the firing, Beltarodi police set up checkpoints across the city and began searching for the accused. Police tracked the accused while checking vehicles. Three of the accused were caught near Butibori initially, while the rest fled in the Duster car. Police continued the chase and arrested the remaining accused in the Rameshwari area.

Sunil Banait, Anand Suresh Thakur, Purna Chandramani Nagrale, Shubham Sanjay Divekar, Nilesh Tembhurne and Sonu Thakur have been arrested in the case. Police have seized the revolver used in the firing, one live cartridge and two cars from the accused.

Beltarodi police are investigating the real reason behind the firing, how the accused got hold of the revolver, and the exact role each accused played in the incident. It has emerged that the injured Kartik Dharmik has serious cases registered against him from before, and police are also examining the criminal records of all the accused.
