Man gets 3 years in jail for molesting minor girl in Gangakhed

A court in Gangakhed has sentenced a man to three years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000 for molesting a minor girl. The case was heard in the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge-2 V.M. Sundale in Gangakhed. The verdict in the molestation case, filed under the child sexual abuse law, was delivered on September 11.

According to information received, a minor girl living in the Gangakhed police station area was returning home after buying a packet of biscuits from a shop when the accused forcibly caught hold of her, took her to his house and molested her. The girl told her mother about the incident. The mother filed a complaint on August 11, 2025, on the basis of which a case of molestation under the child sexual abuse law was registered at Gangakhed police station against the accused, identified as Omkar alias Dadya Gopalrao Sakat.

Gangakhed police investigated the case swiftly and filed a chargesheet in court within just 15 days. Investigating officer Assistant Police Inspector S.K. Ingle completed the investigation and presented the case in the Additional District and Sessions Court in Gangakhed.

The prosecution recorded statements of a total of six witnesses, including the victim's mother, birth registration evidence, and the testimony of the investigating officer. Based on this evidence, the court found the accused guilty of molestation under the child sexual abuse law and sentenced him to three years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000. District Assistant Government Pleader S.B. Paul argued the case under the guidance of District Government Pleader D.U. Darade and secured swift justice for the victim. Assistant Government Pleader S.D. Wakodkar, Gangakhed police station's court liaison woman police constable S.S. Jinkalwad, J.H. Pathan, court liaison M.D. Kundgir and woman police head constable L.V. Munde also worked on the case.
