Mithun Chakraborty is known as much for his glamorous lifestyle as for his acting, but there was a time when his life was a hard struggle. His journey from sleeping on pavements to Bollywood stardom is remarkable. Today he is counted among the most popular actors of his generation and owns several properties across the country, including a lavish farmhouse on Madh Island in Mumbai.

In an interview with Pinkvilla, Mithun Chakraborty's son Namashi Chakraborty shared several details about the farmhouse. According to Namashi, Mithun Chakraborty and his wife Yogeeta Bali bought the bungalow in 1985, a few months after the birth of their elder son Mimoh Chakraborty. The house was named "Mimoh" after their son. The family lived in Ooty for some time. After returning to Mumbai, they moved into this Madh Island bungalow permanently. Before that, the property was mostly used for holidays.

Mithun Chakraborty's farmhouse spans about one and a half acres. Namashi said the property, surrounded by greenery, has a separate cottage built for every member of the family. The farmhouse also has a special area set aside for the family's 22 pet dogs. Namashi said Mithun Chakraborty is very fond of gardening and would spend time gardening whenever he visited the farmhouse, which is why the property gives special importance to greenery.

In the interview, Namashi also shared some memories of Mithun Chakraborty's struggling days. In his early days in Mumbai he had no home to live in, and during that period he spent about 15 days living in a yellow Volkswagen Beetle car. The car is no longer in running condition, but it holds a special place in Mithun Chakraborty's life, and it is still looked after because of the memories attached to it.

The farmhouse also reflects glimpses of Mithun Chakraborty's long career. One wall of the house has the honours and awards he has received, along with paintings of him made by fans. Another wall has photographs of Mithun Chakraborty with several well-known personalities, including photos with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Balasaheb Thackeray. A photo from the moment he received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award is also on this wall.

Mithun Chakraborty's journey, which began in days of struggle, has today led to a lavish farmhouse. The property has separate cottages for the family, 22 pet dogs, a lush garden and several items that preserve memories of his career. Mithun Chakraborty began his acting career in the 1970s, going on to build a distinct identity in Hindi cinema and entertaining audiences for several decades since.
