A new option has arrived for investors looking to put money into the IT sector. Mirae Asset Investment Managers (India) Private Limited has announced the launch of the Mirae Asset BSE Information Technology Index Fund. It is an open-ended scheme that tracks the BSE Information Technology Total Return Index.

The fund gives investors passive, rules-based access to India's technology sector through a single index-tracking product covering IT services, software products, IT-enabled services and hardware companies. The New Fund Offer (NFO) for the fund will open on September 8, 2026 and close on September 22, 2026. The scheme will then reopen for continuous sale and repurchase from September 28, 2026.

Siddharth Srivastava, Head of ETF Products and Fund Manager at Mirae Asset Investment Managers (India) Private Limited, said, "From the dot-com crash to COVID-19, India's IT sector has weathered several technology cycles, and each time the industry has adapted and emerged stronger. We believe artificial intelligence, or AI, is not a disruption to the core value India's IT companies deliver, but another such shift."

He further said, "The sector has reached an important inflection point, and the Mirae Asset BSE Information Technology Index Fund aims to give investors a chance to participate in the next phase of potential growth in the industry driven by advances in AI-related services."

The BSE Information Technology Index is built from the BSE AllCap universe and includes 78 companies. It offers a more diversified portfolio than the Nifty IT Index across segments such as software and consulting, IT-enabled services, software products, and computer hardware and equipment.

The index also offers a more balanced mix by market capitalisation, with large-caps making up about 72 per cent of the index while mid and small-caps together account for the remaining 28 per cent. In comparison, the Nifty IT Index's 80:20 ratio is weighted mainly towards large-caps. This gives investors a chance to participate in established IT majors as well as emerging, fast-growing technology companies.

The minimum investment in this index fund is Rs 5,000, after which investments can be made in multiples of Rs 1. The fund will be managed by Ritesh Patel and Akshay Udeshi.
