Maruti Alto K10 gets pricier in select variants, base model still Rs 3.70 lakh

Maruti Suzuki has revised prices across its entire car range, including the Alto K10, widely seen as the company's cheapest car. However, not all Alto K10 variants have become costlier -- only a few selected variants have seen a modest price hike.

The company has raised prices on several of its models this month. It is being said that rising operational costs have affected vehicle prices. Besides Maruti Suzuki, several other car companies have also increased prices on their various models, which could affect the budgets of customers looking to buy a new car.

The Alto K10 variants that have seen a Rs 2,500 increase in ex-showroom price are the VXi (O) petrol manual, LXi (O) CNG, VXi (O) petrol automatic and VXi (O) CNG. Despite this hike, the price of the Alto K10's base variant has been kept unchanged. The car's entry-level STD (O) variant continues to have an ex-showroom price of Rs 3.70 lakh. This means that even after the price increase, the Alto K10 remains one of the cheapest cars in the country's entry-level hatchback segment.

Meanwhile, customers will now have to pay an ex-showroom price of Rs 5.50 lakh for the top-spec Alto K10 VXi Plus (O) automatic variant.

Along with petrol, the Alto K10 also comes with a CNG option, making it available for those seeking lower running costs. There are two CNG variants of the Alto K10 available for interested buyers. After the price hike, the LXi (O) CNG variant now has an ex-showroom price of Rs 4.85 lakh, while the VXi (O) CNG variant costs Rs 5.35 lakh. This gives the Alto K10 an added choice in the category of entry-level cars offering a CNG option alongside petrol.

Despite the modest price increase, the Alto K10 has retained its identity as an affordable car in the entry-level hatchback segment. It competes with cars such as the Renault Kwid and the recently updated Tata Tiago facelift. Notably, the Rs 2,500 increase on select Alto K10 variants is relatively small, so for customers looking to buy a new car on a limited budget, the Alto K10's starting price remains Rs 3.70 lakh.

Rising production and operational costs for automobile companies are driving these price changes. This is also why Maruti Suzuki has revised prices across its entire model range this month. In the case of the Alto K10, the company has not made all variants costlier -- only select petrol and CNG variants have seen a Rs 2,500 increase.
