Pankaja Munde directs faster pace on MAFSU development works

The Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University, Nagpur, known as MAFSU, had its functioning reviewed in detail at the state secretariat. The meeting, chaired by animal husbandry and fisheries minister Pankaja Munde, discussed several matters related to the university's academic, administrative and infrastructure facilities.

The meeting was held at the secretariat and was attended by MAFSU vice-chancellor Dr Nitin Patil, dean Dr Shirish Upadhye, registrar Mona Thakur, deputy registrar Dr A. P. Gawde and joint secretary N. B. Marale. Various important matters related to the university were discussed at the meeting.

A proposal was placed before the meeting that students of the Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (BVSc and AH) course be given a monthly stipend of Rs 18,000, on par with students of other medical streams. Minister Pankaja Munde suggested that this proposal, which would require a provision of Rs 4.12 crore to raise the students' stipend, be placed before the upcoming cabinet meeting for approval. She also told the concerned officials to focus on raising the university's academic standards by providing students with hostel and other necessary facilities.

The meeting also reviewed the recruitment process for teaching and non-teaching posts at the university. Minister Pankaja Munde directed that the recruitment process be given priority and completed quickly, so that the university has the required teaching staff as per the guidelines of the Veterinary Council of India (VCI).

The meeting also reviewed the current status of various infrastructure and construction projects under way at the university, including construction of academic buildings, hospitals and hostels at Mumbai, Nagpur, Parbhani, Shirwal, Udgir, Warud and Morshi. Minister Pankaja Munde directed the concerned officials to prepare progress-wise reports on all these works and complete them quickly.

The meeting also discussed in detail student stipends, internship allowance, and the fee structure of veterinary and dairy technology courses. Minister Pankaja Munde said the necessary action on these matters should be completed at the earliest. She concluded the meeting by directing all concerned departments to work together in a time-bound manner to raise the university's academic standards, provide students with necessary facilities, complete construction projects on schedule, and carry out teaching and non-teaching recruitment in a transparent and swift manner.
